Marvel and Netflix have seemed to form a near perfect partnership over the last few years. While Marvel continues to bring big blockbuster films to the big screen, they have been expanding their reach on the small screen as well. Their most recent collaboration with Netflix brought Luke Cage to the streaming service and marked the third solo series in the partnership. With two seasons of Daredevil and one for both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage now out, attention now turns to Iron Fist starring Finn Jones as Danny Rand.
Iron Fist is set to have a big presence at New York Comic-Con, with some of the more recent news for the series giving it an official release date for March 2017. Now that a date has been announced, filming was assumed to have already wrapped or being very close to doing so, but Jones has now confirmed his solo series is finished.
Finn Jones took to Instagram to share a video where he reveals Iron Fist has wrapped just hours before their panel at NYCC. The video itself is the final bit of confirmation on production finishing for the series, and will give the tired star just about three weeks to gear up for his part in The Defenders.

With filming now complete for all parties involved, it is possible that Netflix and Marvel could drop the first real trailer for the series at today’s panel, or at the very least give a sneak peak to those in attendance. Netflix does not normally release trailers for their shows this early in advance, but they will not have this chance again before Iron Fist debuts. Given the series takes place in New York and has filmed throughout the state, it only makes sense to give the series a big push now.
Even though Marvel and Netflix have a good track record right now, Iron Fist is going to be their toughest sell yet. Unlike Daredevil, Jessica Jones, or Luke Cage, Iron Fist is a hero that requires a certain amount of disbelief from the audience. His origins and powers are far less grounded than the other three members of the Defenders, and there were plenty of reports prior to production about how difficult of a time Marvel was having adapting the source material. Allowing the series to be one of the highlights of NYCC right after Luke Cage was received well would only help the series come next year.
Daredevil season 1 & 2, Jessica Jones season 1, and Luke Cage season 1 are now available on Netflix. Iron Fist season 1 arrives on March 17th, 2017. The Defenders and The Punisher arrive in 2017. Release dates for Jessica Jones season 2 and Daredevil season 3 have not yet been announced.
