A couple of months after seeding beta 1 of iOS 15.6, Apple is finally releasing this update to all users, alongside iPadOS 15.6. Different from previous versions, there aren’t many new features for iPhones and iPads as Apple is focusing on iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. Today’s build is 19G71, the same as the Release Candidate version 2 seeded last week. iOS 15.6 focuses on general improvements and bug fixes while tweaking some things here and there....

When Apple introduced iOS 7 with an overhauled design for the iPhone and iPad software, it replaced the weather widget showing current temperature and weekly forecast introduced with iOS 5 with a text summary of the day’s weather conditions. This weather summary includes an icon for the current weather condition as well as a text description like ‘mostly cloudy’, but it tends to give you the high and low temperatures of the day and not the current temperature like Apple’s former weather widget....

A supply chain report today supports earlier predictions that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with miniLED screen will be the first Apple product with the latest backlighting tech. Earlier today, we shared a handful of videos that gave perhaps the best look yet at the upcoming iPhone 7. Now, a new report from Macotakara reiterates a few features that the iPhone 7 could very well feature, including a capacitive Home button. According to the report, which cites supply chain sources, the iPhone 7 will feature a capacitive Home button with support for 3D Touch. This means that the home button would not actually be a moving part, though users would still feel as if they were pushing a button thanks to haptic feedback similar to that of the Force Touch trackpad on recent MacBooks....

Google announced today that it’s about to bring SMS for iPhone and a new Calendar Glassware to Google Glass users following an update to KitKat and the introduction of new features earlier this month. First up, iPhone users will now be able to receive text messages on Glass but, as Google points out, they “won’t be able to reply from Glass due to some limitations with iOS.” The support for SMS is a feature that Glass users have long had access to when paired to an Android device....

The latest speed test results are in from YouTuber, PhoneBuff. This time around he pitted the iPhone XS Max against Google’s Pixel 3 XL and the results weren’t pretty for the new Android flagship. However, it seems Google currently has a memory management issue with its Pixel 3, so a redo in the future might better represent real world results. Toady’s new beta update to iOS 8 features a change to the way the built-in dictation system works. In previous versions of iOS, dictating text into an app would send your voice to Apple’s server once you finished speaking to be analyzed and return the converted text. Siri used to function the same way, but with iOS 8 Apple made changes that allowed voice input to be streamed to the server for conversion while the user was still speaking....

Apple announced last month the 10th-generation iPad, which features a new design similar to the more expensive iPad models, plus other enhancements.
